On the morning of May 18, CFLC held a ceremony to designate Zhongyu Zhihui Technology (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. as a “practicing and internship base” for students. The partnership will help CFLC equip its students with the skills and competencies needed for their future careers. The base will also give CFLC students a taste of cross-border e-commerce.
The ceremony was joined by Xu Qi, Vice Dean of CFLC; Shen Lixiu, Deputy Secretary of the CFLC Party Committee. Zhongyu Zhihui executives attending the ceremony included General Manager Ye Lin, Deputy General Manager Yang Shengzhou, Sales Director Chen Lihang, eBay China Business Development Manager Roy Li, and eBay Trainer Serena Chen. The ceremony was hosted by Huang Yanyan, Director of the CFLC Teaching Experiment Center.
Before the ceremony, the two sides had extensive and in-depth discussions on various topics, including innovative models of multilingual talents training, construction of practicing and internship bases for cross-border e-commerce, and joint development of smart foreign-language courses. CFLC Vice Dean Xu Qi expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Zhongyu Zhihui and eBay China for their support for CFLC. She stated that the partnership was expected to tap into the advantages of both sides for common development. She stressed that foreign language institutions needed to adapt to social development and understand the emerging industries and the needs of businesses. She added that cross-border e-commerce had entered Development Stage 2.0, calling for integrating resources inside and outside the university and strengthening the link between on-campus and off-campus practicing. CFLC Deputy Party Secretary Shen Lixiu said that the establishment of the internship base would help expand the scope of practicing for students, enrich the content of internships, and increase students’ participation in social services.
General Manager Ye Lin shared his insights into “Internet plus foreign language” education and the training of foreign language students in universities. He remarked that the partnership on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Xiamen University was a new opportunity on a new starting point, and thanked CFLC for the trust given to his company. He added that, going forward, his company would continue to support the development of CFLC and take the cross-border e-commerce practicing platform and the joint development smart foreign-language courses as the starting point of cooperation to promote industry-academia collaboration between the two sides. He expressed his hope that both sides would innovate and deepen the mode of cooperation.
Manager Roy Li highlighted eBay’s efforts in promoting academia-industry collaboration. He stated that eBay was committed to fostering high-quality talent enterprises to adapt to the development of cross-border e-commerce and provide more platform support for the innovation and entrepreneurship of university graduates. eBay trainer Serena Chen said that eBay would work together with Zhongyu Zhihui to provide CFLC with wide-ranging support in terms of teaching resources, so as to accelerate CFLC’s training and delivery process of cross-border e-commerce talent and broaden students’ employment and entrepreneurship prospects.
Internships are foundational in preparing students for the workforce and providing opportunities after graduation. Most employers seek career-ready college graduates who have been equipped with prior experiences and skills in a given field.
